TRIP TO BIRMINGHAM
On Saturday 3 November I travelled to from Leicester to Birmingham by train with my good friends Belinda Bennett and Helen Munden to meet up with some other good friends at a Costa just outside of Birmingham Grand Central Station, to give out complimentary copies of my newly published book, The Golden Idol. My younger brother Mark, travelled up from Liverpool and my good friends, Malcolm Dervan, from Wednesbury and Pat Homer and her 18 year old grandson, James Homer from Stourbridge. I handed them all a copy, with Mark taking several copies for my family members back home in Liverpool, where he would hand them out. Pat had kept it quiet that James would be receiving a copy, and he was very shocked but delighted when I handed him one. Over a few coffees, Malcolm gave a speech about our friendship over the last nine years and then kept us all entertained with his singing and impressions of Frankie Howerd and Tommy Cooper amongst others, with lots of laughter and clapping from everyone. James wondered what all the other customers made of all the noise! The next morning Malcolm telephoned me to say he had read the whole book in one sitting from 9pm – 2.30am!
